Side Projects: How to Create More Time for Them

Side Projects

You’ve got awesome ideas for side projects – Like the most of us. But you don’t have the time to work on those side projects. Ever felt like you had great ideas that could work and solve problems for other people? You don’t want to quit your current job and you don’t have the money to quit your job and work on your side project? Then, this article is for you. There are some ways you can make time for your side projects, even when you’re working 40 hours per week.

Top 5 things you can do to create more time for your side projects

Let’s talk about some things you can do to create more time.

1. Wake up earlier or go to bed later

Some people are more morning people other are more creative/active in the evening. Try to create one or two work hours for yourself. To get into the habit you can do it every day, but twice a week is fine as well.

2. Work on your side project multiple days a week

By working multiple times a week on your side project you stay in the flow. It’s hard to get in your side project again and again. It’s better to stay in it. If you’ve got a partner, communicate about which days are the best for you to work on your side projects.

3. Create little tasks for yourself

If you don’t work full-time on your project it might be hard to start somewhere, this can withhold you to even start working. It’s smart to make a list what you want to do. Make the tasks as tiny as possible. This way you exactly know what to do and even if you have like 15 minutes left you can still do something on your project. Even little progress is progress and will help a lot in the end.

4. Work together with friends

Also, a smart thing to do is to work with friends – but only if you can trust them and they really love your project. Not everyone has friends that are able to help, but you might find someone in your network or at meetings.

5. Stay motivated!

Keep yourself motivated, if you’re not motivated just watch a video of Gary Vaynerchuk and he will motivate you! So only work on something you love, even though you might not like all the tasks you have to do. Keep the end goal in mind, don’t try to make the perfect product at once but do it in steps.
